Johnny Walker vs Jamahal Hill Preview

UFC Vegas 48 is set to go down on Saturday, February 19. The event comes to us live from the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card features an intense main event in the light heavyweight division, as 10th ranked Johnny Walker faces 12th ranked Jamahal Hill.

Jamahal Hill currently sits at 9-1 as a pro, and has gone 3-1, since signing with the UFC in 2019. Hill rebounded well after his first pro loss to Paul Craig at UFC 263, as he made quick work of Jimmy Crute in his last outing. It took Jamahal only 48 seconds finish Jimmy, as he won via KO.

Johnny Walker is 18-6 since turning pro back in 2013. Walker is currently 4-3 inside the Octagon, with all 3 loses coming within his last four fights. We last saw Walker in October of 2021, where he lost to Thiago Santos via unanimous decision. Johnny recently appeared on the MMA Hour, where he spoke about how unhappy he was with that performance. Walker also touches on his intentions to finish the fight this time out. Check out that interview here.

The light heavyweight scrap was originally set for the co-main of the night, but Visa issues for Rafael Fiziev forced the UFC to move his bout with Dos Anjos to UFC 272, which is now scheduled for Saturday March 5.

Judges May Not be Necessary

The bout is officially scheduled for 5 rounds for our enjoyment, but many believe judges won’t be needed here. Walker and Hill combine for a mind boggling twenty KO victories. Johnny is currently sitting at 15 wins via ko, and five of Jamahal’s nine victories come by knockout. In 24 professional fights, Walker has only gone the distance once. With little chance of it ending by submission, this truly is a strikers delight.
