DJ Augustin, the point guard who is a 14 year veteran in the NBA, needs to be signed by the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics currently sit in sixth in the Eastern Conference standings right now as they will look to move up in the standings during the second half of the season.

Augustin has played for many teams such as the Charlotte Bobcats, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks, Orlando Magic, Denver Nuggets, Indiana Pacers, Detroit Pistons, Toronto Raptors, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The reasons that Augustin needs to be a priority on the buyout market are because of his shooting ability and his experience in the NBA.

Shooting Ability

The 14-year veteran is shooting the three-point ball at 40.6 percent while averaging 5.4 points and 2.2 assists.

He is also shooting the free throw at 86.8 percent this season!

Their bench can use a guy like Augustin for 10 to 15 minutes a night that can shoot the three-ball at his percentage because, in the postseason, you need dependable three-point shooting.

The Celtics attempt 37 threes a game, but rank 21st in that department, only shooting 34 percent. The C’s can definitely grow within the three-point shooting, and what a better way than grabbing a 14-year veteran of the buyout market.

When Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum get doubled, they can just kick it out to Augustin for a wide-open three!

There are many shooters on the buyout market right now and it would definitely be worth a look to potentially grab Augustin!

Experience

Augustin has been on 10 NBA teams throughout his career which he can use to his advantage in the Celtics locker room. He can mentor the young players such as second-year point guard Payton Pritchard as it will definitely be a benefit towards Pritchard since he has played for 14 years in the NBA.
