UFC 272 is almost here which means it’s time for our Staff Picks! Our writers and editors have all picked their winners for the main card, and it’s round two of a yearlong competition to see who comes out on top!
Main Event
Former friends turned enemies with a score to settle face off in the main event. First ranked welterweight-Colby Covington squares off against sixth-ranked welterweight-Jorge Masvidal. This fight has a lot of bad blood with a ton of history between the two fighters. Both Covington and Masvidal are coming off of losses to current welterweight champ and number one pound for pound fighter in the world, Kamaru Usman.
Covington lost a unanimous decision to Usman in November of 2021 while Masvidal last fought in April of 2021, losing to Usman by way of KO in the 2nd round. Both fighters are looking to rebound from losing to the champ in this matchup between top 10 welterweights. This is a fight full of drama and questions to be answered that you do not want to miss.
Main Card
The main card is kicked off at heavyweight between Greg Hardy vs. Sergey Spivak, followed by Kevin Holland vs. Alex Oliveira at welterweight. Next up is a pivotal matchup at featherweight, Bryce Mitchell vs. Edson Barboza. The co-main event will take place at catchweight, former lightweight champ-Rafael Dos Anjos faces off against Renato Moicano who answered the call to replace Rafael Fiziev after news of Fiziev battling Covid-19.
