The ‘Sugar Show’ may be returning to the Octagon sooner rather than later.
During a Twitch stream on Monday, Sean O’Malley (15-1-0) confirmed that his goal was to return at UFC 274 when the promotion returns to Arizona, the state O’Malley calls home.
O’Malley has been out since his TKO victory of Raulian Paiva at UFC 269 due to a hand injury. Assuming he can stay healthy, O’Malley hopes to make his return at the event which goes down on May 7, just two months away.
O’Malley didn’t stop there. During his stream, he was asked who he would like to face and did not hesitate to drop a name.
“I’m thinking Pedro (Munhoz) but we will see. I’m going to make sure I can f*cking train full time and my f*cking sh*t feels good,” O’Malley said on his Twitch stream Monday.
Sean O’Malley Bounces Back
After suffering his first defeat against Marlon Vera at UFC 252, O’Malley bounced back with a third round knockout of Thomas Almeida at UFC 260. From there he would face short-notice replacement Kris Moutinho at UFC 264. O’Malley outworked Moutinho 230 to 70 in significant strikes on his way to a third round TKO. Most recently, he finished Raulian Paiva in the first round at UFC 269.
Pedro Munhoz (19-7-1) has lost three of his last four bouts, though the losses came against UFC icons Frankie Edgar, Jose Aldo and Dominick Cruz. His loss to Cruz came on the same night that O’Malley last fought, UFC 269. In that bout, Munhoz dropped Cruz early, but the former champion recovered and worked his way back into the fight earning a unanimous decision over ‘The Young Punisher.’
Munhoz’s notable victories came against Rob Font, Cody Garbrandt and Jimmie Rivera.
