Sabina Mazo Released by the UFC

After her loss to Miranda Maverick at UFC Vegas 50, Sabina Mazo has been released by the UFC.

The Twitter account UFC Roster Watch confirmed on March 16 that Mazo’s profile was removed from the UFC website. While Mazo (9-4-0) did not come out and directly confirm the release, a post on her Instagram account gives the impression that she is no longer signed with the promotion.

“It’s been a rollercoaster week. I am proud and happy of the work I put in fight camp, fight week and little sad of my performance. Cant deny my heart is broken but I will come back stronger, better and smarter.bI am focus now on working, improving and move on. This champions here showed me the definition of champions and of family. I am honored to share this time with them. Again thank you all the @teixeirammaandfitness family.”

After starting her career with a 6-0 record, Mazo made her Octagon debut in March 2019. Mazo came up short in her promotional debut, losing via unanimous decision to Maryna Moroz. The ‘Colombian Queen’ bounced back with three straight victories over Shana Dobson, JJ Aldrich and Justin Kish

The streak would come to an end in 2021 as she dropped back-to-back fights against Alexis Davis and Mariya Agapova. Her most recent defeat came at UFC Vegas 50 where she was submitted in the second round by short-notice replacement Miranda Maverick. With three straight losses, it appears the UFC has parted ways with the former LFA champion.

At just 24 years old, Mazo is likely to showcase her talent in another promotion. Where would you like to see the ‘Colombian Queen’ fight next?
