The UFC is looking to make history and book a fourth consecutive flyweight championship fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. The hope is to do the fight in July, sources have told Ariel Helwani.
This will mark the first time in the UFC’s history that two competitors will share the octagon for a record fourth time under the UFC banner, also making it the first ever fourth consecutive title fight rematch in the UFC’s history.
The first contest between the two ended in a draw at UFC 256 in December 2020 with Figueiredo retaining due to the draw. The rematch ended with Moreno becoming champion by submitting Figueiredo with a rear-naked-choke in the third round at UFC 263 in June 2021. Their third showdown was a unanimous decision victory for Figueiredo when he recaptured the gold at UFC 270 in January. All three fights are held in high regard by the MMA community due to the entertainment value and high level of skill displayed in all three contests.
Will the fourth fight live up to the expectations and standard set by the previous three? Time will tell.
