Social media star Jake Paul has consistently campaigned against the alleged mistreatment of UFC fighters and accused UFC president Dana White of involving his fighters in sub-par contracts. The Boxer took to the media to call out the president after Paddy Pimblett disclosed his payment following his latest win.
The Liverpool-born fighter was full of praise after another first-round finish against Kazula Vargas. In just his second fight in the UFC, the fan-favorite came back from a strong start by Vargas to get a rear-naked choke submission in the first round that sent the O2 wild.
Pimblett received praise from several fans as a crowd of other stars from around the sporting world were present at the arena. He was also awarded a "Performance of the night amazing bonus" worth fifty thousand dollars after his first-round finish.
“It Has To Change"
Rumors began to pile up a few days after his impressive win over his actual payout and in an interview in the Dave Portnoy Show, he demystified the rumors. ‘The Baddy’ despite being one of the biggest names in the UFC roster at their record-breaking 02 Arena ticket sale, revealed he went home with an appalling $24,000 following his win.
"People love just to talk about how much you make, don’t they? It’s what they do, 12 and 12, so 12 to show, 12 to win. (24k total) and then the bonus."- Pimblett disclosed in an interview with Barstool Sports
The revelation made headlines, triggered a scandal in the outside world, and the UFC was once again summoned about the mistreatment of their fighters.
MMA journalist Ariel Helwani commented on Pimblett"s payout during an episode of his show, The MMA Hour.
"If he [Pimblett] lost that fight, he was only getting $12,000… Incredible number for a name like him, for a guy who"s making that kind of buzz… when you go back to Conor"s second fight back in 2013… against Max Holloway… Conor made $12K and $12K. What that tells me is – all this talk from all these executives at the UFC is hogwash. Nothing"s evolved, nothing"s changed… nothing has changed in 9 years. It has to change," said Helwani.
The Two Jakes Chime In
Jake Paul and Dana White have clashed publicly in the past, with the former now taking a new swipe at the UFC president after this shocking revelation.
"PADDY PIMBLETT GETTING PIMPED. WHO MANAGES THESE GUYS?"- Paul said on social media.
Another individual who stood up for Pimblett was veteran Jake Shields. The American also took to social media to roast Dana White over his fighters" payout.
"I GUESS HE WASN’T THE MAIN EVENT BUT STILL UNREAL TO MAKE 24K AND PEOPLE IN THE COMMENTS ACTING LIKE IT’S FINE" – Jake revealed.
Before this disclosure, Jake Paul’s call-out on numerous occasions concerning fighters’ pay has fallen on deaf ears. It"ll be interesting to see how Dana White handles his latest scandal regarding fighters" treatment.
