Unless you’ve been living under a really big boulder since Sunday, you have most likely seen, heard about or commented on this year’s big moment at the 94th Academy Awards.

No, we’re not talking about CODA walking away with the evening’s biggest prize. Instead, this year’s most talked about moment was a physical assault carried out by fan-favorite actor Will Smith. The victim being tenured comedian Chris Rock who moments before, made a joke at the expense of Jada Pinkett Smith, Will Smith’s wife of 25 years.

“‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” said Rock, taking a jab at Pinkett Smith’s hairstyle. Seconds later, Will Smith would casually walk up to the comedian on stage and delivered his own version of a Stockton Slap, stunning Rock, the crowd in attendance and the millions watching at home.

Smith returned to his seat and proceeded to yell, “keep my wife’s name out of your f*cking mouth” to Rock while the SNL alum remained on stage trying to keep the show going.

The MMA community was quick to comment on the situation, comparing it to the alleged assault charges against UFC standout Jorge Masvidal

On March 21, Masvidal allegedly waited outside of a Miami restaurant that rival Colby Covington was dining at. Upon exiting the restaurant, Masvidal reportedly ran up from the left and punched Covington twice, once in the mouth fracturing a tooth and another to the eye. In the attack, it’s been reported that Covington suffered an abrasion to his wrist and his $90,000 Rolex received 15k worth of damage.

Just as the MMA community commented on the altercation between two of the UFC’s biggest stars, they were also quick to comment on the incident between two of film and televisions most respected talents.

What are your thoughts on this year’s shocking Oscar moment?
