March of 2022 was another amazing month in an overall stellar season for the Carolina Hurricanes. The Hurricanes currently lead the Metropolitan Division and have some real hopes for making the playoffs, in large part due to this month’s winner of the Hurricanes player of the month, as well as the runners up who have made a special impact so far.
Player of the Month: Frederik Andersen
Andersen has been a frequent mention in the list for player of the month for the Hurricanes and has already won it once this season, with this second win being well deserved just like the first. This season, Andersen has been a pillar of stability among the Hurricanes, putting up solid performances night in and night out. This past month the elite goalie posted four wins, including a shutout against the Montreal Canadiens on the last day of the month. Additionally, the goalie managed to take the Dallas Stars into overtime and eventually to a shootout after having taken over in the net partway through the game. He has made some amazing saves, including a crucial cross-crease save against Tampa Bay Lightning‘s star winger Nikita Kucherov
Overall, Andersen has been strong this season and looks ready for the playoffs to start with the form he has been in. The Hurricanes can count on this goalie, and the players look comfortable knowing that he is behind them and able to make a save when it is needed.
Aho is not a newcomer to the list of players in consideration for the player of the month, and he is expected to be a staple amongst the names on this list. Month in and month out the star center has managed to put up points for his team, while also filling the role of a strong two-way forward to help his team on defence. Overall, he has played fantastically with 13 points in the month of March which certainly helped his team to secure a few wins. The Finnish forward has been stellar since he arrived with the Hurricanes, and has certainly made a name for himself in Carolina with a lot of potential and time left in his career given that he is only 24 years old. Fans can expect Aho to be a big influence come playoff time, and hope to help his team with a push for the cup.
Teravainen won the player of the month title last month and has managed to keep his game strong all throughout the month of March. While not necessarily being a veteran among the team, at 27 years old the winger is certainly in his prime playing years. He has played fantastically this month, putting up 13 points in the month as well as maintaining a +/- of six throughout the month, with multiple multi-point nights. Overall this player is a staple of consistency with his team and looks like a solid leader who could certainly take over as an alternate captain should a position open up for him to take one in the rotation.
