Miguel Cabrera 3000 Watch: 9 Hits Away!

During yesterday’s Tigers/Red Sox game Miggy moved one step closer to baseball royalty. Needing only 9 more hits the Miguel Cabrera 3000 is officially in high alert. If/when Cabrera reaches the milestone, he will become one of just seven players in baseball history to have over 3000 hits and 500 home runs.

Miguel Cabrera 3000 Watch: Hit Number 2991

In the bottom of the sixth and facing Matt Barnes, Cabrera roped a double moving him one step closer. The hit continued a solid start for the former MVP as it was his fourth hit and first extra base hit for the 2022 season.

While Miggy is no longer the threat he once was, he will play an interesting role for a revamped Tigers team during the 2022 season. The Tigers made a handful of moves this off-season, bringing in Eduardo Rodriguez and Javy Baez, as they look to push the White Sox for the AL Central crown.

Meanwhile, the Cabrera 3000 watch will also be competing with the 2020 first round pick, Spencer Torkelson‘s debut season. While Miggy is headed to Cooperstown, the Tigers will have to make sure that Miggy"s quest for royalty doesn"t hamper the development of a promising rookie, or get in the way of a Postseason push.
