Huge news comes out at 185 pounds as Darren Till and Jack Hermansson (22-7-0 9-5-0 UFC) is now set in a stacked UFC event in London headlined by a main heavyweight event between Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall. Twitter user @mmanytt verified with a source close to the promotion, Ariel Helwani, on Sunday that the Englishman Till is to return to the Octagon, having agreed to a three-round matchup against Hermansson on the 23rd of July.
The pair were to face each other in the main event last year, but the bout was called off after Darren Till pulled out due to injury concerns.
Darren Till and Jack Hermansson Seek Return to Winning Ways
After a torrid run of recent form, ‘the Gorilla’ (18-4-1 6-4-1 UFC) expressed his interest in switching weight classes but would eventually suffer a loss at the hands of Jorge Masvidal. He now has to settle for this rescheduled fight in the middleweight class.
Till has just one win in his last five bouts, including losses against Jorge Masvidal, Robert Whittaker, and Derek Brunson. His dip in form and a bid to resurrect his career had him switch training camps to that of one of UFC’s rising prospects Khamzat Chimaev.
Having called out Uriah Hall, Sean Strickland, and Hermansson following his submission loss to Brunson, the 29-year-old is in perfect shape and ready to face the latter in a bid to return to winning ways. Darren Till, who once had his eyes on a title shot has acknowledged his fade from the conversation and is keen to reclaim his long-sought-after spot.
Meanwhile, Hermansson, after a four-fight win streak across 2018 and 2019, has endured a mixed spell of fortunes to date. He recorded wins over Ronaldo Souza and Kevin Gastelum while also falling short to top-ranked middleweight fighters Sean Strickland and Marvin Vettori. Currently ranked number 7, the fighter would be looking to bounce back while also eyeing a higher spot in the UFC ranks when he squares up against Till.
