After a spectacular knockout against Tony Ferguson at UFC 274, ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler is ready for a quick turnaround and has Nate Diaz in his sights.

Nate Diaz has been campaigning endlessly for a fight which would complete his UFC contract. Most recently, Diaz tweeted that he would be ready for a bout at 170lbs on July 30, the anticipated date for UFC 277.

The general consensus was that the late July date would result in a trilogy bout with Conor McGregor, but with the former champ-champ’s return date still up in the air, Chandler has offered his services.

“I’m there. Quick turn around. Spin your head on its axis. @natediaz209,” tweeted Chandler.

Shortly after, Chandler took to Twitter once again to call out Diaz. “Hey @natediaz209 …shut up and stop complaining. Keep your mouth shut. Keep your head down until your daddy books a fight for you to get your sacrificial dome bounced off the canvas again. Maybe it’ll be me…if you’re lucky. See you at the top!”

Never one to back down from a fight (publicly anyway), Nate Diaz responded in short order. “UFC got me on ice for a year now chandlers obviously ready to fight send a contract it’s time,” tweeted Diaz.

Michael Chandler and Nate Diaz Aim For a Summertime Scrap

Diaz (20-13-0 MMA, 15-11-0 UFC) has dropped three of his last four bouts in the Octagon dating back to a loss against Conor McGregor at UFC 202. Diaz followed that loss with a win over former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, but has since dropped two straight to Jorge Masvidal and Leon Edwards.

Chandler (23-7-0 MMA, 2-2-0 UFC) burst into the UFC with a first round knockout of Dan Hooker at UFC 257. Chandler would drop his next two bouts to Charles Oliveira and Justin Gaetheje before getting back on the winning track with a jaw-dropping knockout of fan favorite Tony Ferguson at UFC 274.

UFC 277 currently has no other bouts announced, but a recent report states that the UFC is finalizing a flyweight interim title fight between Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-Frace. The highly anticipated rematch between Julianna Pena and Amanda Nunes is also rumored to take place at the event.
