It looked like the winner of the Eagle FC 47 main event would have cemented his shot at the current heavyweight world champion Rizvan Kuniev, but after an unfortunate injury that halted the fight, Yorgan De Castro and Junior dos Santos would be surrounded with controversy instead of a clear number one contender.

It is rare when it happens, but it was looking like a Bellator MMA vs. Eagle FC card was something that wasn’t a consideration until social media did what it does best, stirring up a great idea that got fans talking with one tweet.

Bellator MMA vs. Eagle FC?

Khabib Nurmagomedov and Scott Coker are smart business men who love the sport of mixed martial arts, and both men could sense a big pay day with all the speculation put on Junior dos Santos against the legend Fedor Emelianenko. It looked like an all but done deal where dos Santos could have been the one to champion the division with a win at Eagle FC. 47.

With dos Santos vs. Fedor on the marquee, a cross promotion fight card could churn up the MMA world depending on the rest of the names on the card, could have garnered some serious money for both promotions.

Unfortunately, the dream fight between Junior dos Santos and Fedor was extinguished in the blink of an eye when JDS injured his shoulder in the third round against Yorgan De Castro. Many believe that ‘Cigano’ was winning but the unforgiving sport of MMA opened the door for the underdog, De Castro, to add a big name to his resume and continue his winning streak outside of the UFC.

Yorgan De Castro Will Make the Most of His Opportunity

De Castro has many different avenues with the victory over JDS. He kept the hope of a cross promotion fight card between Bellator and Eagle FC alive with his call out of Fedor. De Castro could also rematch dos Santos, or punch his ticket for a shot at the Eagle FC Heavyweight World Champion Rizvan Kuniev, silencing critics and making a statement by showing the world that he is not a heavyweight to be written off again.

No matter what happens, there are many exciting storylines to come out of Eagle FC 47.

What are your thoughts on a potential fight between Yorgan De Castro and Fedor Emelianenko – and if the fight is made, who comes out on top?
