Anvar Boynazarov: Dana White’s Contender Series’ Next Star?

Has the Dana White Contender Series found the next UFC star for their Featherweight division? Joining the Season 6 cast of fighters is former GLORY Kickboxer-Anvar Boynazarov, as reported by Nolan King of MMA Junkie.

Kickboxing Background

The Uzbekistan native-Boynazarov has a combat sports career spanning over 125 total fights! In kickboxing, the 33-year-old Boynazarov amassed a record of 95 wins, 27 losses, and 3 draws with 53 of his wins coming by way of knockout.

“The Uzbek” was the Featherweight Contender Tournament Runner-Up at GLORY 47: Lyon in October of 2017, although losing in the final, Boynazarov was awarded the knockout of the night earlier in the competition, you can see that below. Boynazarov even defeated the now Top Ten UFC Featherweight-Giga Chikadze by split-decision at GLORY 23 back in 2015.

The Road to the UFC

If you’re asking yourself if Boynazarov’s kickboxing success will translate into MMA success, the answer so far is yes. Boynazarov debuted in MMA for Combat Night Pro in December of 2020, winning two fights in the organization. “The Uzbek” is undefeated, winning all three of his fights by knockout, each in the very first round. Most recently in the cage at LFA 121 in January this year, Anvar Boynazarov defeated John Pham, making it a quick night at the office by winning in under 30 seconds, which you can see below.

Season Six of Dana White’s Contender Series is fast approaching, set to premiere on July 26th this year. Anvar Boynazarov’s contest will air during episode three on August 9th with the opponent yet to be named. This is shaping up to be another jam-packed season of DWCS for Fight Fans, how well do you think the knockout artist will perform, let us know in the comments!
