Did a week of MMA fights and news really happen, if there are not any Conor McGregor updates?
Over the past weekend, videos on social media came out featuring Conor McGregor, showing “The Notorious” kicking a heavy back with his newly recovered and seemingly near fully healed left leg. In almost a year from when the injury took place, the Irishman looks to be on a successful road to recovery, just in time, as potential matchups have been heating up in the last few weeks.
In the footage below, McGregor is not warming up to see how his leg feels but is throwing with full force and ferocity into the heavy bag. Yes, clearly some warm-up kicks and stretches took place, but that was not enough for “The Notorious”. Always pushing the limits of his abilities and now his recovery as well, it is looking like he is near ready to get back into the full swing of training.
Being able to throw kicks of this nature safely, means that the recovery has been going well and one has to imagine that sparring using these kicks will be happening in the coming months. Once sparring commences and all seems well, a training camp and fight announcement is sure to come. With the various clips and tweets that have been shared over the past year, McGregor has been chomping at the bit to get back in the Octagon and perform once again.
Conor McGregor Could Face ‘Iron’ Michael in His UFC Return
All the while, UFC President Dana White has once again mentioned liking the idea of a potential matchup between “The Notorious” and “Iron” Michael Chandler. Speaking TMZ, White said, “I don’t know, I really like Chandler vs. Conor after Chandler’s last fight. There’s plenty of fights to make, I don’t know if that’s the one, but we’ll see what the landscape looks like when Conor comes back…I’m just saying after his last interview, his last fight, Conor’s ranked No. 8, he’s ranked No. 5, it makes a lot of sense right now.”
Luckily for the fans, this may be the matchup that everyone is clamoring for anyways since the phenomenal callout that Chandler had in his post-fight interview after his stunning KO of Tony Ferguson at UFC 274. Will this be the matchup that will break the internet once it gets announced? Or does “The Notorious” have another trick up his sleeve?
