Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr are set to lock horns in a domestic clash in October. The fight is expected to take place on October 8th. While no official announcement has come as of yet, Gareth A Davies was speaking to IFL TV and stated the fight has been signed by both fighters. Davies added

“Yes the fight has been signed and this is a brilliant fight for DAZN. Joshua will be fighting on Sky for his next fight and this is good counter-punch from DAZN. Sky and BOXXER were finding it difficult to find fights for Eubank Jr. and that is why he has decided to fight Benn on DAZN.

Benn’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, spoke on Saturday after Derek Chisora’s win over Kubrat Pulev and said an announcement regarding Benn’s next fight will come soon.

Brilliant fight for British Boxing

This fight will generate huge interest in the UK especially as even casual boxing fans will tune into the fight. Anthony Joshua’s fight with Oleksander Usyk is expected to be shown on Sky Sports therefore this fight will be brilliant for DAZN and it is expected this will be shown on the platform’s pay-per-view model. The fact that Eubank Jr. has been working with Sky and BOXXER in the last year, securing this fight is massive for DAZN.

Benn is one of the most promising fighters in the Matchroom stable and the 25-year-old is extremely talented. Eddie Hearn and Matchroom have done a terrific job over the last couple of years in building the fighter’s profile and Benn now has a massive fan following in the UK. The Brit has an impressive unbeaten record with 21 victories and 14 of them victories coming by knockout. Should Benn beat Eubank Jr. this will further elevate his profile in world boxing and the fighter has mentioned his desire of fighting for a world title soon.

This is also a massive opportunity for Eubank Jr. as he also has hopes of fighting for the biggest prizes in boxing. The 32-year-old also boasts an impressive record with 32 victories and two losses. Eubank Jr. beat Liam Williams earlier in the year on points and a fight between him and Liam Smith was understood to be in the works. Smith recently signed with BOXXER and Sky which heightened speculation of a fight between the two being made.

The fight between Benn and Eubank Jr. is understood to be at ‘catch-weight’ where both fighters will weigh around 155 pounds. While Benn is a welterweight and wants to compete at 147, he will be natural at this weight and it will be easy for the fighter to make weight. Eubank Jr. is the naturally heavier man and there is also talk of a re-hydration clause being implemented into the contract.
