It would be hard to believe that anyone had Buakaw Banchamek joining the BKFC as part of their combat sports bingo card for 2022. Muay Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek, the “White Lotus” has signed with top bare knuckle promotion BKFC. Per officials, a multi-fight deal was signed where his debut fight will take place on September 3rd in Thailand, and then he will fight on US soil after that.
Who is Baukaw Banchamek?
With a combat sports record of 240-24-12, “White Lotus” has done it all in the world of Muay Thai and Kickboxing. Buakaw Banchamek, a multiple-time champion in many promotions and countries throughout the world: WMC Champion, Imnoi Stadium Champion, WBC Muay Thai Diamond Champion, and K-1 World Max winner, many could say he has done it all in his career. Clearly, there are still some goals remaining for one of the bests as BKFC was able to sign him up.
Having returned back into the ring earlier this month for the first time in three years, it seems as though the 40-year-old from Thailand is ready to continue competing again, but now in a new sport. Being a former champion of the eight limbs, many fans will be curious to see how he fares when it gets limited to only two limbs is the BKFC.
Standing at 5’8″ and weighing around 160 lbs, he is in the perfect spot to fight many top names such as Chad “Money” Mendes or current two-division champion Luis “Baboon” Palomino. No official statements have been made by either the company or Baukaw himself, but there is already a lot of commotion on social media wondering about the deal and who he may fight upon his debut. With an already growing roster of high-profile fighters (Paige VanZant, Felice Herrig, John Dobson), this signing has caught many by surprise with will bring more international eyes to the promotion as well.
