The next time Taylor Starling steps into the squared circle, it will be for the biggest fight of her combat sports career.
On August 27th, ‘Killa Bee’ gets her shot at the BKFC flyweight women’s world championship when she meets reigning champion Christine “Misfit” Ferea. Emanating from the Rio Rancho Events Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, BKFC 28 will also play host to the promotional debut of former UFC flyweight contender John Dodson. He faces Ryan Benoit in the co-main event of the evening.
Undefeated in the squared circle, Starling has earned three straight victories over Charisa Sigala, Cassie Robb, and Hannah Guy. Now with the biggest fight of her career just a few short weeks away, ‘Killa Bee’ is working harder than ever to ensure she walks out of New Mexico with gold wrapped around her waist.
“I’ve become a lot stronger,” Starling said while speaking to BKFC.com. “Even my physical appearance, I look totally different than before. I’ve done more cardio, more conditioning, more everything, for this fight than ever before. I amped everything up times 100.
“There’s not going to be one thing that I haven’t done to become world champion. It’s a lot easier to become the champion than stay the champ because I have a fire lit under my a** to go out and take that belt from Christine. I’ve amped up everything.”
Taylor Starling Is Fighting for More Than a Title
The 26-year-old scrapper is fighting for more than notoriety or to satiate her “super aggressive” nature. She is also motivated by her children and aims to show them that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
“This was my goal for my children,” said Starling. “To show them that if you work hard and you’re nice to people and you really put your mind to it, you can do anything you want in this world. I’ve been preaching that to them since Day 1, and now my main goal is right in front of me, and it’s going to happen.
“I’ve had so many doubters, people telling me that I couldn’t get this far. Well, now I’m right here. It’s proving that all my doubters were wrong, but more importantly, it shows my kids that you can accomplish your dreams.”
On August 27th, Taylor Starling will get that chance against the dangerous Christine Ferea. ‘Misfit’ is 5-1 in BKFC with four wins via knockout.
