The drivers and teams were at the tricky triangle known as Pocono Raceway the iconic course features three turns, moving away from the traditional oval that has four turns. Nonetheless, the drivers set their sights on the tunnel turn and the three corners they had to master throughout the race.

Young and upcoming driver Ty Gibbs made his Nascar Cup Series debit as he strapped into the 23XI Racing team’s #45 car in replacement of full-time driver Kurt Busch. Kurt Busch was not cleared to race following a hard hit in qualifying for the Sunday race at Pocono. Ty Gibbs only 19-Years of age got the nod and stepped into the Nascar Cup Series.

The race came down to a late battle that included highly talked about driver Ross Chastain who was in the hunt for the first position as the laps winded down made contact with the number 11 car driven by Denny Hamlin, in turn, one following a restart with 19 laps remaining. Denny Hamlin would hold on to take the checkered flag and win the race at the tricky triangle. Following post-race inspection both Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch, were disqualified giving the race win to Chase Elliot who would have rounded out the top three at Pocono Raceway. Kyle Larson finished in the top five again with a fifth-place finish, Bubba Wallace makes it in the top 10 as he finished in the eighth spot. The big story goes back to the NASCAR Debut of Ty Gibbs who brought the car home in one piece and finished 16th overall.

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to the Brickyard in Indianapolis for the Verizon 200 as the schedule winds down and the Playoffs close in. The current top five in the NASCAR driver standings include first-place Chase Elliot, second-place Ross Chastain, third-place Ryan Blaney, Fourth place Martin Truex, and fifth place held by Kyle Larson.
