Tyson Pedro’s UFC 278 Flawless Victory

As the excitement still lingers from the way the UFC 278 main event played out, it is easy to forget the other details that made the fight card a memorable one. Tyson Pedro’s flawless victory against Harry Hunsucker seemed to fly under the radar after Leon Edwards captured the welterweight title.

Tyson Pedro went into his fight with Harry Hunsucker as the favourite, and it took no time at all when he showed the world exactly why he was the betting favourite with his Saturday night beatdown. Once he let a crisp jab go, the damage was done to Harry Hunsucker and before he could recover from the vicious jab, Pedro hit him with a front kick to the gut, ending the underdog story for his opponent.

Through Ups and Downs

UFC 278 showcased the violent skills Pedro possesses in his arsenal, and they are what made him a top prospect in the Light Heavyweight division. It seemed to remind the world of who he was praised to be.

Leading up to his debut with the UFC, Pedro was a juggernaut with many believing he would be a title contender in no time. Unfortunately, he has had some ups and downs within the Light Heavyweight division and was starting to be written off as a legit contender, with his first loss to Ilir Latifi. But the star looked bright as he got back to his winning ways, submitting Saparbeg Safarov before he took back-to-back losses. The loss to Shogun was the most devastating as Pedro tore his ACL, forcing him to sit out for almost four years.

With coming back from an injury and rejuvenating another winning streak, he has no ranking beside his name and maybe at his next fight he will match up against someone in the top ten.

With his current run, do you think Tyson Pedro could make a serious threat for title contention? Let us know in the comments below.
