Brazilian head coach Tite, has confirmed that the Paris Saint German forward will be able to continue with his country for the ongoing 2022 World Cup at Qatar. With the Neymar injury, all eyes are on Tite to see how he will adjust the roster
The forward came off with a sprained ankle twelve minutes after an initial challenge from Nikola Milenkovic in his side’s enthralling 2-0 win over Serbia in their Group H opener and there’s been a lot of concern and visible fear as to whether or not the 30-year old would be able to progress with Brazil.
It’s of course easy to understand the cause of apprehension in the camp of the South Americans as the forward has inarguably been the most important man in the entire Selecao squad for almost a decade now.
The Neymar Injury
Neymar played an indispensable role in his team’s qualification to Qatar 2022, scoring eight goals to help Brazil book a spot, only two behind Bolivia’s Marcelo Moreno.
The Brazilian also played a very key role at Russia 2018(a tournament he came into recovering from a three-month foot injury), scoring two goals and helping the five time Champions to the quarter-finals where they were knocked out by Belgium.
Historical Neymar Injury
Also remember that Brazil had their Achilles heel aimed at in the 2014 World Cup when Neymar crashed out with a spine injury in the quarter-finals, contributing to a 7-1 demolition by the Germans in the semi-finals on home soil. That kind of feeling is definitely something the Southern Americans do not want to experience again as Neymar’s absence may sap dry the life of their World cup ambitions.
Neymar is no stranger to killer, long-term injuries and it’s a sign of relief that there’s at least some positive news coming from the Brazil camp in Qatar.
Providing an optimistic update about the Neymar injury, Tite said “You can be sure: Neymar will play in the World Cup. You can be absolutely sure of this, Neymar will play in the World Cup!”
Neymar will undergo treatment and it’s really hoped by not just South American Brazil but even football fans that the veteran winger returns to the action very soon.
