Robbie Lawler Retiring at UFC 290

According to Dana White, we will all witness the legend- “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler’s last fight at UFC 290, according to Dana White. UFC 290 is scheduled for July 8th, 2023, International Fight Week at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Ruthless" Steps in the Cage for the Last Time

Dana White announced via. Twitter “Lawler will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame on July 7th for his fight with Rory MacDonald then he fights on Saturday, Robbie is the former UFC world champion.” White continued, “This kid (Lawler) is never in a boring fight. I found Robbie Lawler when he was 19 years old, and UFC 290 will be the final fight of his amazing 22-year career.”

Lawler will fight Niko Price (15-6-2 MMA, 7-6-2 UFC) at UFC 290. Lawler (29-16-1 MMA, 14-10 UFC) last fought at UFC 276 in July 2022 against Bryan Barberena, Lawler lost via. TKO in the second round. Lawler is 2-6 in his last eight bouts. Lawler’s last win was at UFC 266 in September 2021, defeating Nick Diaz via. TKO in the third round, getting revenge for the loss to Diaz at UFC 47 in 2004.

Lawler will be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for his title bout with Rory MacDonald at UFC 189. The bout between the two was legendary, as Lawler defeated MacDonald via. TKO in the fifth round in the 2015-Fight of the Year.

Lawler is a one-time Welterweight champion, winning the title at UFC 181, defeating Johny Hendricks via. Split Decision, Lawler defended the title successfully twice against MacDonald and Carlos Condit.
