It was a scene kids go over countless times in their backyard.
Bryce Blaum crushed a bases-loaded, 2 out, full-count offering from the West Virginia closer deep to left-center and the Aggies defeated the host 11-10 to advance to a showdown with Duke.
Texas A&M overcame a weather delay and then a 9-1 deficit as deep as the 7th inning to earn a shot at a Super Regional.
They comeback started with 6 back in the 7th including a Logan Foster Grand Slam to cut it to 9-7.
After giving one back to WVU in the 8th on an rbi single for Kevin Brophy the table was set.
A leadoff double for, Foster, a one-out walk to Aaron Walters, and a two-out walk to Brandon Shewmake loaded them up for the drama.
The Mountaineers used a pair of two-run home runs to build the 9-1 advantage onTexas A&M. But that’s when the real fun started.
The Aggies come-from-behind victory over the final 3 at bats in hostile territory was special. They’ll reflect at a later date on it. But they have bigger goals.
The Aggies celebration won’t exist. They draw a red-hot Duke team in the nightcap. TAMU will have to win not only that game but the if necessary game on Monday while the Blue Devils have to win just once.
Kevin Brophy took an outside pitch opposite field to left to start the scoring in the 2nd. He finished with 3 RBI. West Virginia concludes the season 38-21.
