Trade Talk: The Yankees Should Get Marcus Stroman

Major League Baseball’s trade deadline is July 31. The New York Yankees are looking to add a pitcher before the trade deadline. The pitcher that they should add is Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Marcus Stroman.

It appears that Stroman won’t be with the Blue Jays for much longer as the Blue Jays are trying to trade him. Stroman was asked about the possibility of playing for the Yankees Monday night and said that he thinks he’d fit in.

“I’m built for this,’’ he told Dan Martin of the New York Post. “Anybody can say whatever, but I’m built for the bright lights. I’m not scared of it. I’ve never been. I take that ball each and every time with the pressure on. I love it.’’

The Yankees want to get a pitcher to strengthen their rotation. There are top pitchers that the Yankees could get like Max Scherzer and Madison Bumgarner. However, Scherzer won’t be leaving the Washington Nationals and the Yankees don’t want to pay Bumgarner’s high price tag, according to A.J. Herrmann of the YES Network.

With Scherzer and Bumgarner not being options, Stroman might be the best choice for the Yankees to get. He is 5-9 this season with a 3.04 ERA, 77 strikeouts, and a 1.252 WHIP. In nine career starts at Yankees Stadium, he is 2-5 with a 6.37 ERA.

Stroman would be a good fit for the Yankees and would strengthen their rotation. He is from Long Island and would love to play at home.

“New York is like the mecca of the world,’’ he told Martin. “I love the excitement, I love the bright lights, I love competition, I love pressure, so I’ve always loved pitching here. Even if I haven’t necessarily pitched fairly well here, I’ve always enjoyed it. … I love the spotlight. The bigger the moment, that’s kind of where I’ve always wanted to be.”

Stroman is probably the best pitcher that the Yankees could get right now. The Yankees need to get him before anyone else does, otherwise their rotation likely won’t get any better or stronger.
