UFC fighter Desmond Green arrested for manslaughter
UFC fighter Desmond Green has been arrested and is in custody. Green was taken into Broward County Jail in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and is facing 19–20 charges including DUI manslaughter for his part in a five-vehicle car crash. Because the charges are so serious his bonds are set at $194,000.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol crash report, Green lost control of a 2011 Dodge Durango that he was driving and it veered into a tractor-trailer, which started the five-car crash. As a result, there were two people killed in the collision, Emelina Morfa (67) and Emma Suarez Hernandez (76), while Green (29) only suffered minor injuries. Desmond is also facing charges of possession of cocaine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and operating with a suspended license.
Desmond Green (23-8) has fought three times after this incident, including a fight only one month after these events. Green has also fought two times this year in March at UFC on ESPN: Barboza vs. Gaethje and in May at UFC Fight Night: dos Anjos vs. Lee, winning both of those fights.
This is a a very serious case which is still a developing story and I’m sure more is to come. So, stay tune for more information as it comes in.
