Event News

The Ultimate Fighting Championship has announced 10 fights for the upcoming event UFC on ESPN 5. The event is set to take place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on August 3rd.
The card will be headlined by former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington (14-1) and former welterweight champion Robbie Lawler (28-13-1).

Covington will be looking to make a statement to try and reclaim his spot as number one contender to take on current welterweight king Kamaru Usman (15-1).
Lawler is looking to get back in the winning column after dropping his last two bouts, one with quite some controversy.

Oezdemir vs Latifi set to meet at UFC on ESPN 5
Volkan Oezdemir set to take on Ilir Latifi at UFC on ESPN 5 Newark, NJ.

In the co-main event we have a light heavyweight showdown between Ilir Latifi (14-6) and Volkan Oezdemir (15-4). Once hot prospect Oezdemir is riding a three fight losing streak including two stoppages that have derailed the hype. Oezdemir’s exciting fighting style can lead to some amazing moments but recent performances have shown a lack of cardio and consistency.
On the other hand Latifi is a journeyman with an exciting tendency to push forward and chase the action which makes him a fan favorite regardless of record.

Jim Miller vs Clay Guida set to meet at UFC on ESPN 5
Jim Miller set to take on Clay Guida Aug. 3rd

UFC veterans Jim Miller (30-13-1) and Clay Guida (35-18) will also collide at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
With Miller coming off a submission win after battling lime disease for the last few years but he is now feeling healthy. And with Guida recently getting a win over Hall of Fame inductee BJ Penn this has the potential to be fight of the night.

Also on the card is Antonina Shevchenko (7-1), sister of UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko.
She will be looking to come back from her recent loss by taking on dangerous challenger Lucie Pudilova (8-4) who is coming off two losses.
Shevchenko successfully fought for a UFC contractor on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series but suffered a defeat recently to veteran Roxanne Modaferri.
