OTH- Daily Odds 7/23/19 is part of a daily series providing you with the odds for all major sports playing that day.
7:05 Rockies @ Nationals – Stephen Strasburg will take the mound for the Nationals tonight. He has pitched great lately winning eight of his last nine starts. Strasburg has allowed just three runs in his last 18.2 innings of work. Starting for the Rockies tonight is Peter Lambert. Lambert has allowed 22 earned runs in his last 23.2 innings. Expect this Nationals offense to have a big day against Lambert and the Rockies.
Nationals -1.5 -105
7:05 Cardinals @ Pirates – The Cardinals have leapfrogged the Brewers for second place in the NL Central. They have gone 8-3 since the All Star Break and are 3-1 against the Pirates. Today they send Dakota Hudson to the mound and he has been their most consistent pitcher this season. He has given up three earned runs or less in each of his last sixteen starts. He has gotten the win in five of his last seven starts and the Cardinals have won 10 of his last 11 starts. Chris Archer has gone winless in his last seven starts and is 3-6 on the season. Only five of his seventeen starts have been quality starts this season. The Pirates have gone 2-8 since the All Star Break and look for that slide to continue tonight.
7:07 Indians @ Blue Jays – Aaron Sanchez has an unfortunate streak going for Toronto. He has lost ten straight starts. He has given up at least four runs in eight of those ten starts and has only been able to get through six innings twice. Trevor Bauer is on the mound for Cleveland and they have won seven of his last eight starts. He has had three consecutive quality starts and has struck out thirty batters in those starts. Bauer is 6-2 with a 2.43 ERA in 10 road starts this season. Look for his excellence on the road to continue in Toronto.
Indians -1.5 -120
7:10 Phillies @ Tigers – Aaron Nola and the Phillies look to keep their momentum after a series win in Pittsburg. After an average start against the Dodgers in his last outing, Nola will look to return to his dominate form. Prior to the Dodgers game, Nola had allowed no runs or one runs in five straight starts. Detroit is second to last in Majors in runs per game at just 3.6. Mathew Boyd will get the start for the Tigers and will be asked to keep up with Aaron Nola, which has been almost impossible lately. Boyd has given up 26 runs in his last 35.1 innings. Expect the Phillies to get to Boyd early.
7:20 Royals @ Braves – The Royals come into the game averaging 4.3 runs per game, which is 25th in all of baseball. The Braves on the other hand are almost a full run a game better with 5.29. Atlanta has been playing well at home, winning 16 of their last 22 at SunTrust Park. Dallas Keuchel looks to rebound after his loss to the Brewers last week. Keuchel has won each of his starts following a loss since he joined the Braves. Danny Duffy will be starting for the Royals tonight. The Royals have lost six of his last nine starts. Duffy hopes to have better luck against the Braves than most other lefty starters. Atlanta has won nine of their last eleven games when facing a left handed starter.
Braves -1.5 -106
8:10 Reds @ Brewers – The Brewers will look for revenge after blowing last nights game in the ninth inning. They will send Zach Davies to the mound. He has returned to form in July after a rocky June. In his three July starts, he has given up two runs in eighteen innings of work. The Brewers have won his last four starts, all of which saw him give up no runs or one run. The Reds will counter with Tanner Roark, who has went 1-3 in his last eight starts. He has given up four or more runs in five of those starts and only gotten through six innings in four of them. Look for the Brewers to even the series tonight after last nights tough loss.
8:10 Marlins @ White Sox – The Marlins have lost four games in a row and are looking to end that streak today. They have Caleb Smith on the mound and he has pitched well in his three July starts since returning from the IL. He has given up three earned runs or less in all three starts and the Marlins have won all three of these starts. The White Sox send Dylan Covey to the mound, who is looking to redeem himself after a bad July. In his only start, he failed to get out of the first inning, giving up six runs and only recording two outs. He also has given up runs in both of his relief outings since that time. The White Sox have six of the last seven games that Covey has started or appeared in and look for more of the same today.
Flier of the Day
7:10 Red Sox @ Rays – The Boston Red Sox have been very inconsistent this season. At times they look like the defending World Series champs, and at other times, they look like a team in the cellar of their division. In their last four games they have scored a total of 28 runs (2, 17, 0, and 9). Which Red Sox offense will show up today? The Rays have struggled as of late, losing six of their last seven games. They send Yonny Chirinos to the hill and he is due for a win for them. They have lost six of his last seven starts, even though he has only given up more than three runs once (he gave up four in that outing). The last time he faced Boston, he threw 8 scoreless innings. The Red Sox send Chris Sale to the mound and he is 3-6 on the road this season.
