Nikola Vucevic and the Magic: Ready For The East

There are a lot of things going on in Orlando, Florida with one of the best being the Orlando Magic. When talking about contenders in the Eastern Conference, most people will talk about the Milwaukee Bucks or the Philadelphia 76ers. The Magic have put together a team with top players such as Nikola Vucevic, Mo Bamba and Aaron Gordon, a very nice core. It is not just the core but the rest of the team and the organization. The Magic have made the right moves for a franchise ready to compete.

Magic Ready for The East

From a distance, the Orlando Magic have watched all of the off-season moves and they don’t care what everyone else has done. As All-Star center Nikola Vucevic stated to the Orlando Sentinel, “I think for us, we can’t look at other teams and everything else that’s going on around the league. The most important [thing is], we look at what we can do to improve internally as a team.” The Magic believe that after last season’s playoff run, they are ready for the East. The Magic reached the playoffs last season for the first time in seven years.

Coach Steve Clifford believes that the East is still good from the top down. With the movement from other teams, it can only help the Magic. He may be correct. The Magic used the off-season to take care of the roster they had.

A Talented Roster That Can Win

The Magic resigned Nikola Vucevic and Terrence Ross and added forward free agent Al-Farouq Aminu. Rookie DaQuan Jeffries, who has impressed the team in the summer league, will help add depth to the squad. The Magic also took a chance on Markelle Fultz in a trade with Philadelphia last season. The former number one pick, once healthy, could end up being the icing on the cake. With Aaron Gordon and Mo Bamba, the roster is filled with more than enough talent to get to the playoffs once again.

How far can this team go? That will be the exciting part of the season. Watching this team grow and come together. If they all manage to stay healthy, a good run will be a fact. The team’s front office is doing a great job and the coaching staff has handled their side. If last season and this off-season are indicators of things to come, then the players are doing their job as well. Contending for a title may not be this year, but if the Magic stay the course, they will more than ready for the East.
