UFC 240 (Edmonton) Preview and Info!

Max Holloway vs Frankie Edgar, UFC 240

Fight night is just around the corner so it’s time to get you ready fight fans! The UFC is taking it’s talent north of the border for this PPV card. UFC 240 will take place on July 27, 2019 at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Max Holloway, UFC 240

The main event will be a featherweight contest as Max Holloway (20-4) once again defends his championship against the always entertaining Frankie Edgar (23-6-1). The current featherweight champ is looking to rebound after a decision loss in his last fight. Holloway took a stab at lightweight gold against Dustin Poirier in a hard-fought memorable contest back in April. Before that loss, Max was on a 13 fight win streak while winning the interim and unified UFC featherweight titles. Holloway has not loss at featherweight since 2013 and has successfully defended his title two times. It will be interesting to see how his opponent, Frankie Edgar, will do coming back from a 15 month layoff. Edgar’s last fight was a dominate unanimous decision win against Cub Swanson on April 21, 2018. Frankie is a former UFC lightweight champion and UFC legend who has been with the promotion for 12 years (since 2007). This is a can’t miss fight and a fight for the ages.

Cris Cyborg, UFC 240

The co-main event will also be at featherweight but in the women’s division as Cris Cyborg (20-2-1) takes on Felicia Spencer (7-0). Similar to Holloway, Cris Cyborg is coming off her first loss in a very long time. Before her loss back in late December, Cyborg hadn’t loss since her very first professional MMA fight in 2005 (14 years unbeaten). Cris is the former Strikeforce, Invicta FC, and UFC women’s featherweight champion. She is 5-1 in the UFC with two successful title defenses. Her opponent, Felicia Spencer, is also a former Invicta FC women’s featherweight champion. Spencer had a very impressive first round submission of Megan Anderson in her UFC debut in May of this year. This will be an intriguing match-up of a relative new-comer facing off against the veteran.

There will be three more fights on the main card, including Geoff Neal (11-2) vs. Niko Price (13-2-1), Olivier Aubin-Mercier (11-4) vs. Arman Tsarukyan (13-2), and Marc-André Barriault (11-2) vs. Krzysztof Jotko (20-4).
