OTH- Daily Odds 8/8/19

OTH- Daily Odds 8/8/19 is part of a daily series providing you with the odds for all major sporting events being played that day.

7:07 EST Yankees @ Blue Jays – The Yankees are coming into the series winners of eight straight, and nine of their last ten games. In that span New York has outscored their opponents 76-37. Domingo German will take the mound tonight for the Yankees. German has allowed three earned runs or fewer in five of his last six games including a scoreless six innings he pitched against the Blue Jays. Thomas Pannone, who is starting for Toronto, has been hit pretty hard in his last several outings, allowing 15 earned runs in his last 21 innings of work. The Blue Jays have scored less than five runs in six of the nine games they have played against the Yankees and we like that trend to continue tonight.

Picks: Yankees -1.5 (-145), Yankees -.5 1st 5 (-150), Blue Jays Under 4.5 (-150), Yes to a Run in the 1st (-140)

7:10 EST Angels @ Red Sox – The only team playing as bad as the Red Sox right now is possibly the Angels. These two teams open up a for game series in Boston tonight. Both teams have struggled to score runs lately with the Red Sox averaging 3.5 runs per game and the Angels averaging 3.1 runs in their last seven games. Expect a great performance tonight from Chris Sale as he tries to put his last two starts behind him.

Picks: Red Sox -.5 1st 5 (-170), Angels Under 4.5 (-145), Red Sox Under 6.5 (-130), Under 6 1st 5 (-115)

7:10 EST Royals @ Tigers – In a battle of AL Central cellar dwellers, the Royals travel to Detroit to face the Tigers. The Tigers will send Matthew Boyd to the mound, and he has struggled against the Royals. He is 1-2 with a 5.00 ERA in three starts against them this season. In his career, he is 4-9 with a 6.29 ERA in 17 starts. The Royals will counter with Jorge Lopez, who is making a spot start for the Royals. He is 1-7 on the season with a 6.19 ERA. In his career, he is 0-2 with a 6.75 ERA in six career games against the Tigers. With these pitchers on the mound, we like all the overs you can get in this game.

Picks: Game Over 9 (-115), 1st 5 Over (-115), KC Over 3.5 (-140), Det Over 4.5 (-130), Yes to 1st inning run (-130)

7:10 EST Braves @ Marlins – The Braves travel to Miami as they are coming a huge series win over Minnesota. Dallas Keuchel will take the mound for Atlanta tonight. Keuchel has been very consistent for the Braves this year allowing three earned runs o fewer in all but two starts this year. In his only start against the Marlins this year he went 7.1 innings and gave up only two runs on five hits. Elieser Hernandez will be starting tonight for the Marlins, and has struggled especially lately. In the last month Hernandez has given up 12 earned runs in 11.2 innings. Look for the Braves offense to give Keuchel plenty of run support tonight.

Picks: Braves -.5 1st 5 (-140), Braves -1.5 (-140), Braves Over 4.5 (-140), Over4.5 1st 5 (-115), Over 8.5 (-110)

7:10 EST Cubs @ Reds – Just like most of the season, the Cubs took care of business at home in their last two series, by sweeping the Brewers and taking 2 of 3 from the A’s. Now, they must travel on the road, where they have been a very different team this season. The Cubs are 21-33 on the road this season, and the only team worse in the NL on the road is the Miami Marlins. The Cubs have not won a road series since May 17-19, when they won two games in Washington. In addition, the Cubs are 5-7 in games against the Reds this season, with a 2-4 record in the six games at The Great American Ball Park. Today’s pitching match-up features two good left handed pitchers. Cole Hamels goes to the mound for the Cubs, and he gave up no runs over five innings in his first start since returning from the IL. On the season, his ERA is more than a full point higher on the road than it is at home (2.35 vs. 3.42). In his only start against Cincinnati this season, he left after one inning with an oblique injury that sent him to the IL. The Reds are playing some of their best ball of the season, going 8-3 in their last 11 games. In addition, they are 6-2 in their last 8 home games. Today, they send Alex a wood to the mound. In his only two starts this season, he has given up two runs in each of them. In his career, he is 3-2 with a 2.86 ERA in 9 appearances vs. the Cubs. 4 of the 6 games between these teams in Cincinnati this season have been single digit run totals, and all 3 of the games at Wrigley in July between these teams were single digit run totals. The Cubs have scored four runs or less in eight of their nine road games since the All Star Break, and we like that to continue today.

Picks: Reds (+108), Reds 1st 5 (+105), Game Under 9.5(-115), Under 5 1st 5 (-115), Cubs Under 4.5 (+100)

8:10 EST Indians @ Twins – The Cleveland Indians are one of the hottest teams in baseball. Since early June, they have slowly closed the gap between them and the Twins down to 2 games in the AL Central standings, and now may be their chance to finally catch them. Since they started their great run, however, the Indians have only won one of their four series against teams with records over .500(including losing two of three to Minnesota). The Twins have struggled at home against teams over .500 since the All Star Break, as they haven’t won a home series against an opponent over .500 since the All Star Break. In those four series (Mets, Oakland, NYY, and Atlanta), the Twins are 4-8 in those 12 games. Something will have to give tonight. Tonight’s matchup features Mike Clevinger vs. Kyle Gibson. Gibson is 7-1 at home this season, while Clevinger is 3-2 with a 5.47 ERA on the road. Clevinger has given up one run or less in five of his last six starts, while Gibson has given up three earned runs or less in five of his last six starts. We like Minnesota to win a lower scoring ball game tonight (7 of their 9 games this season have had single digit run totals).

Picks: Minnesota (-108), Minnesota 1st 5 (-115), Game Under 9 (-115), 1st 5 Under 5 (-120), Cleveland Under 4.5 (-130), Minnesota Under 4.5 (-135)

9:45 EST Phillies @ Giants – Tonights game features both teams best pitchers. Going for the Phillies will be Aaron Nola. Nola has been hit hard only a few times this year, with Atlanta and the Dodgers being the teams that have done the most damage to him. Other then those three games against the teams mentioned early, Nola has allowed one earned run or fewer in every start since June 15. Madison Bumgarner has been a bit shaky in his last two starts allowing four runs or more in each of those games. The Giants have scored only six runs in their last four games. With Nola pitching tonight for the Phillies don’t expect that trend to change.

Picks: Phillies 1st 5 (-130), Phillies (-116), Phillies Over 3.5 (-125), Giants Under 3.5 (-130)

10:10 EST Rockies @ Padres – Something will have to give in this series. The Rockies are 12 games under .500 on the road (23-35), and the Padres are five games under .500 at home (25-30). These teams played nine times before the All Star Break, with the Rockies winning six of nine (including the only two at Petco Park). Gray is 5-5 with a 4.17 ERA in 12 road starts this season. He is probably one of only a few pitchers in recent years who has better numbers at Coors Field than he does on the road. The Padres will counter with Eric Lauer. Lauer has been absolutely destroyed by the Rockies in his career, going 0-3 with a 12.51 ERA in 4 career starts. Most of that damage has come at Coors Field, however. Lauer is 3-3 in 10 home games this season. The Rockies bats have been inconsistent on the road(three runs or less in 6 of last 9 road games), but the Padres have played terrible at home since the All Star Break (2-7 record). We like Colorado to win tonight in a higher scoring game.

Picks: Colorado (-110), Game Over 8 (-115), 1st 5 Over 4.5 (-110), Rockies Over 3.5 (-145), Padres Over 3.5(-145), Yes to a run in the 1st(-115)

7:00 EST NYCFC vs Houston Dynamo – NYCFC -1 (-125)
