Duke Johnson to take on a bigger role.

With the injury to Lamar Miller and release of D’Onta Foreman the Texans will turn to Duke Johnson . During last night preseason game Miller suffered a possible torn ACL. This is devastating news as Miller was coming off his first pro bowl appearance last year.

The Texans traded a conditional 2020 pick to the Cleveland Browns for running back Duke Johnson.

The former 3 round pick out of The University of Miami finished 2018 with 201 yards rushing and 47 reception. Johnson sign a three-year, $15.61 million contract extension last year. For the 3 years Johnson played for the Browns he was in a running back by committee situation. The Browns plan to use Nick Chubb as the feature back this year and Johnson was the odd man out. Seeing the writing on the wall Johnson request a trade in the off season. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/26895997/browns-duke-johnson-wants-traded

Running Back Duke Johnson

The addition of Johnson will give Deshaun Watson a different skill set and offensive weapon out of the backfield. Johnson is a pass catching running back that will now have an expanded role. He immediately moves into the starting running back spot unless there is another move made.
