With Trae young’s return on the horizon, the Hawks managed to take two steps back in the process. Per Adrain Wojnarowski, star forward, John Collins, has been suspended 25 games for violating the leagues anti-drug policy. Collins released a statement to ESPN expressing his frustration and disappointment regarding the situation. However, he claims to have been oblivious to the “illegal component” that was in the supplement he used. As of now, he is working with the NBPA to appeal his suspension.
Consequently, if the suspension is upheld, and Collins is suspended, the Hawks will have to look to Jabari Parker, Bruno Fernando, Damian Jones, and Alex Len to help stretch the floor and protect the paint as Collins did so well. Ultimately, this is just another test for the young Hawks. Let’s see how they respond to this one.
