Nick Diaz could finally make his return to the octagon next year. Ariel Helwani sat down with the eldest Diaz brother to discuss his plans for the future. This interview has the media swirling and he eyes quite possibly the fighter of the year.
Diaz and his manager are open to discussion about his return to the UFC. The welterweight division has seen multiple changes after Nick left the game. Jorge Masvidal current BMF, is one of those guys. And he’s also the man in Diaz’s sights.
Mess with the Bull, Get the Horns
Along with his future plans, Nick Diaz also talked UFC 244. “I’ll fight anybody” Diaz said to Helwani while on the topic. However, Masvidal has struck Nick with heartfelt attacks at his younger brother. This fight can easily become a rivalry matchup without a previous meeting.
Masvidal emerged victorious after a 3 round finish at Madison Square Garden. After the fight he said he still didn’t finish the job which was “baptizing” Diaz. Nick defended his brother saying “you don’t y’all about baptizing my younger brother, so you’re already in a f***ed position with me.” “That’s my baby brother. You don’t talk like that to nobody.”
The Real Issue
Nick Diaz hasn’t fought since losing a decision to Anderson Silva, that was later ruled no contest. But, with the Diaz brothers rust doesn’t seem to be an issue. The real issue could very well be striking the right deal with Nick.
One thing we all know, however, is that when you have a motivated Diaz on your hands, it is something to behold.
