Canucks vs Avalanche Preview: 3 Things to Watch

The Vancouver Canucks (3rd in Pacific) are taking on the Colorado Avalanche (2nd in Central) in what should be an exciting game! Here are three things to keep an eye on as the game goes on!

3. Canucks Retro Jerseys

As a part of their 50th anniversary celebration the Vancouver Canucks will be dawning a throwback jersey. Several months ago the organization held a poll to determine which retro jersey they’d sport this season. The 1994 ‘Black Flying Skate’ jersey won by a wide margin. The 1994 Stanley Cup Finals appearance and the bold colour scheme are the two biggest factors leading to the jersey’s popularity. Fans are sure to be rowdy as the yellow, red and black jerseys began moving around the ice.

2. Colorado’s Caught The Injury Bug

The Colorado Avalanche has undeniably one of the most dynamic offences in the league. The Avs are sitting at fourth in the league with 3.58 goals per game. With that being said this team does not have all of it’s firing power at the moment. Six Avs players are currently sitting out including key players: Mikko Rantanen, Philipp Grubauer and captain Gabriel Landeskog. Vancouver will be looking to end their skid of 4-4-2 in their last ten. It will be interesting to see if Elias Pettersson and Brock Boeser can score big and take advantage of those injuries.

1. Star Rookies Clash

Both teams respectively each have rising superstars waiting on the blueline. Cale Makar has just one point under a point per game and Quinn Hughes has 12 in 20 games thus far. Both of these rising stars are putting on absolutely stunning rookie campaigns. It should be interesting to see how these young guns perform against each other. This will be the first meeting between two Calder trophy hopefuls that you will not want to miss!
