Tuesday morning Mark Walton was arrested for aggravated battery. When the Dolphins were notified of the arrest, Walton was immediately cut. The aggravated battery came after an altercation with his pregnant fiance.
According to police documents, Walton shoved a woman against the wall and then punched her multiple times in the face and head. This raises a major concern for the NFL as this seems to keep being a recurring theme. The NFL will need to conduct their investigation. Then they will figure out how many games he will be suspended. They may also decide if Walton will be blacklisted by NFL executives like some other cases.
The Dolphins signed Walton in May after his release from the Cincinnati Bengals. The release from the Bengals was due to three arrests in the offseason. Walton was two games into serving a four-game suspension for violating the NFL Conduct and Substance abuse policy.
Mark Walton was a 4th round pick by the Cincinnati in 2018 and had only 34 rushing yards for the Bengals. This year, Walton ran for 201 yards before he started serving his suspension. The Dolphins will be looking for a new starting back after trading Kenyan Drake to the Arizona Cardinals.
NFL and Legal Cases
Yet again, the NFL appears in the spotlight for another aggravated battery. This particular case will get more attention as his fiance was pregnant. This is where the NFL will have to put their foot down again. There is no place in professional sports for these types of actions. If found guilty by the courts, Walton will also have his previous three convictions come back on him as he was on a six-month probation that had started in August.
