Texans – Ravens: How NOT to Play Football

The Houston Texans faced off the Baltimore Ravens at M&T Bank Stadium in chilly Baltimore. This game was supposed to be a football game for the ages, as both teams have young, explosive quarterbacks. Even then, it quickly turned into a lopsided victory for the Ravens.

First Half

Although both teams had an interesting first quarter, it remained scoreless. A rare Justin Tucker missed field goal kept the scoreboard at 0. As always, the Texans offensive line woes have come back to haunt them, as Deshaun Watson got sacked for a total of seven times.

As soon as the second quarter began, the young hotshot Lamar Jackson quickly began to take advantage of the “J.J. Watt-less” defense and quickly nabbed two touchdowns. Even though the Texans remained scoreless at halftime, the worst had yet to come.

Second Half

The third quarter was the “nail in the coffin” for the Ravens. Lamar Jackson and his explosive offense nabbed one more touchdown and two field goals. The Texans offense, while having good opportunities, remained scoreless.

The fourth quarter pretty much sealed it for the Ravens. Although the Texans managed to take back a Touchdown, it was still too late, as the Ravens had scored two more Touchdowns. Final score: BAL 41-7 HOU

Takeaways

As they say, you win some, you lose some. This is especially true in football
This game truly showed that the Texans need

  • A stronger Offensive Line
  • The defense needs to show up when it needs to
  • Always capitalize on offensive opportunities
