The Patriots vs Texans game was the Sunday Night Game on December 2nd. It was the 2nd biggest game of the day and this is how the game went down.
The Game started with a long seven-minute drive by New England, which ended in a field goal. This drive should have ended in the end zone because of the amount of time they took off the clock. Tom Brady threw a pick in the first quarter to Bradley Roby, which led to them having a great field position. Houston got the ball back and scored a touchdown in 38 seconds. Ka’imi Fairbairn kicked the PAT to make the score 7 – 3.
The Texans were the only team to score in the second quarter. Deshaun Watson got the drive fired up when he threw a pass to Jordan Akins for 19 yards. This led to Watson throwing a pass to Darren Fells for a 13-yard touchdown. Fairbairn kicked the PAT making the score 14 – 3 Houston.
The Patriots offense is a mess. They gave the defense a terrible start. If Brady does not throw that pick, the Patriots win the game. The Patriots were the better team, but they made too many crucial mistakes that lost them the game. They had eight penalties for 60 yards in this game, that is too much. The offensive line needs to give Brady more time in the pocket.
The third quarter was a new start to the game in New England’s mind, 0 – 0. They came out putting up a fight, but it was not enough. Deshaun Watson threw a beautiful pass to Kenny Stills for a 35-yard touchdown. Fairbairn made the PAT, which made the game 21 – 3 Houston. New England had to score on this drive, or the game was over. Brady shows us some of his younger self when he threw a 12-yard pass for James White. Kai Forbath somehow missed the PAT, which only made the score 21 – 9 Houston.
Houston was the first to move the ball. Watson threw a steller pass to Deandre Hopkins for a gain of 27 yards and a first down. This reception led to a six-yard pass to Hopkins for the touchdown. Fairbairn kicked the PAT, and it was good, making the score 28 – 9. If New England wanted any chance of winning, they had to do it on this next drive. Tom Brady got the team into the red zone when he threw a pass over the middle to White for a gain of 19 yards. Tom Brady then threw another beautiful pass to White for an 11-yard touchdown.
The Patriots did not trust their kicker, so they went for two but failed. This made the score 28 – 15 Houston. Brady was on a hot streak, and then he slung a pass to White for a 36-yard reception. Brady sat in the pocket and threw one to Julian Edelman for a 20-yard touchdown. Kai Forbath surprisingly kicked the PAT, and it was good, making the score 28 – 22 Houston won.
The Patriots need to have a consistent kicker on the team if they want to win games. It was a good game overall, but they had two significant mistakes in the game. Brady’s pick was substantial to the Patriots losing since it led to them having leverage in the game. If Brady does not throw that pick, the Patriots probably win the game. Forbath kicking is not going to work in New England. Forbath showed us today that he is not good enough to be an NFL kicker. Patriots lost 28 – 22 to the Houston Texans.
