Cavaliers Weekly Recap 12/1-12/8

In the midst of a seven game losing streak, the Cleveland Cavaliers seem lost. There has been a bit of drama and the imminent Kevin Love trade is seemingly no help. The Cavs went 0-3 this week and lost dropped another game on Monday, December 9. Let’s go over what happened in their past week.

Disappointing loss yet again for Cleveland, losing by 33. It’s starting to get a bit embarrassing for them after a pretty solid start to the season. Who knows what has happened to the young squad. Since the news broke that Kevin Love is being shopped around, he hasn’t played nearly as well as normal. The same goes for the Cavs. Collin Sexton scored 22 on 50% shooting, continuing his strong sophomore season. Sexton has been a bright spot for a struggling squad this year.

Loss vs Orlando 93-87

The closest the Cavs had been to a win since November 23, the Cavs lose to the Magic for the third time this year. Another low scoring game for Cleveland, but the defense was stellar. Almost everyone on the Magic was held in check, but Terrence Ross, who scored 21 points off the bench. Cleveland had nobody with 20 or more points, which probably contributed to the loss. They just haven’t been able to get everything clicking in a long time.

This might be the hardest loss of the week to swallow. A 47 point loss to a 76ers team without Joel Embiid and Josh Richardson is brutal for a young team without much experience or morale. A lifeless effort for Cleveland. Kevin Love only had 6 points and played just 20 minutes. Has he given up on Cleveland? If so, it is definitely affecting this team. Every player on the Cavs had a negative plus/minus. Ben Simmons scored a career-high 34 points and Mike Scott poured in 21, sending Cleveland to 5-17.

The Cavaliers are going to have to turn it around quickly here just to earn some respect back from analysts and fans, as it is quickly turning to a nightmare.
