Heat Lose Close One, Move to Dallas Tonight
Los Angeles extends their 12-game road-winning streak and Miami loses for the first time at home all year. This game was high-intensity for a December 13th matchup. Did the Lakers win? Yes. But, did the Heat show if when healthy they could be taken seriously? Yes.
LeBron and AD
Man, LeBron and AD are a duo that no one wants to face. LeBron is dominating in his 17th year and he is paired with another top 5 player in AD. This team is crazy good. The Heat brought high-intensity but it was no match for this duo. In the end, the Heat were not big enough, not long enough, not strong enough to topple the Lakers. The Heat gave it a strong fight, but in the end the Lakers won this one 113-110.
To beat any team, let alone heavyweights like this, a balance attack is needed. The Heat may not have won, but with limited talent, they did the most they could. Derrick Jones Jr. had the best game on his season and Kelly Olynyk had a solid input as well. Jones Jr. 17 points, 4 boards and 4 assists to along with 2 steals. His improving shot showed, as he was 7 of 8 from the line and 2 of three from distance. He is mainly used for his athleticism to cover bigs like AD, but he is really bought into the culture and is improving his all-around game. Kelly Olynyk, had 15 points and 6 rebounds as well. He hit some big-shots to keep the Heat in this one. Him and Jones Jr. were both solid off the bench all night and were big in a close loss for Miami.
Close but No Cigar
The Heat, led by as much as 14 in this matchup, but ultimately couldn’t contain LeBron and AD for long. Where that duo had a “quiet” first half, they were big when needed for the Lakers in half 2. In the second half, they trailed by as much as 11, did the Heat. However, they clawed their way back into the game and made this one entertaining down the stretch. Some big-threes were hit to give them a chance. Although, when down three and needed one to send it to OT, Butler was given a great look; However, Butler, who we all praise for being clutch, did miss the shot. Butler will be given more opportunities this season and will for sure deliver.

Thanks to the NBA scheduling gods, after a home loss to LA, the Heat travel to Dallas to take on Luka and the Mavs. Luka, has the Mavericks at 17-7 and exceeding most expectations. Many expected the Mavs to be good, close to the playoffs or just in, but not 17-7 good. Luka, averaging 30.7, 9.9 and 9.2 is having an MVP caliber start to the season. The Heat, on the other-hand are going into their 5th back-to-back on the season. They are currently 1-3, but 0-3 when on the road. The Heat will once again have their hands full but we could expect a thrilling matchup yet again!
The Heat drop to third in the Eastern Conference at 18-7. They lost their 1st home game all year, but there are still many positives to take from this game. The Heat can most certainly take this and do one of two things. Get down on themselves and react poorly. Or, fly to Dallas and make a statement road-win in Dallas a night after they let an opportunity slip away.
