Werner’s Wagers: NFL Week 15 Locks
werners wagers week 15: We are down to the nitty-gritty as we head into week 15 of the NFL season. With the last Thursday night game of the year behind us, we look forward to the Sunday slate to find some winners. After this Sunday the playoff picture should be cleared up just a little and we should have a good indication of who has a real shot and who is looking forward to 2020 for a reset. Below are some games I love and I’ll explain why. Let’s make Sunday a payday yet again… Here we go.
Patriots @ Bengals
- Odds: Patriots -10
- Over/Under: 41.5
- Kickoff: 1:00PM EST
Here we go again. Hoards of eager Patriots haters have swarmed twitter to declare the New England Patriots officially DEAD. Season over. Brady is washed. Might as well not show up for the playoffs because they are a first-round knockout. Wait… Have we heard this before? Sounds familiar.
The Patriots have dropped 3 of their last 4 games with losses to the Ravens (are they good?), Texans, and Chiefs. The offense has looked unimpressive, to say the least, and Brady seems to have no trust in anyone not named Julian Edelman. They have had no success in the run game as Sony Michel has yet to eclipse 100 yards in a game this season. Where the Patriots have been successful has been on the other side of the ball. The Patriots defense has been a force this season and is a major reason for their early success this year.
Time to turn it around
What the Patriots desperately need is a tune up game. Someone who throws a defense out there that Brady can pick apart and an offense that Stephon Gilmore and friends can terrorize. A team that already has its eyes on Joe Burrow or Chase Young. A team like the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals rank dead last in rushing yards given up per game which should bode well for a struggling Sony Michel to gain some confidence. They also rank in the bottom half of the league in passing yards per game.
As bad as the Patriots have been I simply do not see the Bengals being able to shut down the Patriots offense. QB Andy Dalton will likely struggle with minimal weapons against the Pats D. Coach Belichick will rally the troops and come out swinging against the timorous Bengals who they have plenty of film on (please clap). Give me the Patriots to cover 10 and then some.
My Pick: Patriots -10.
Dolphins @ Giants
- Giants -3
- Over/Under: 46.5
- Kickoff: 1:00 PM EST
We have ourselves a good ole fashion TANK OFF! The 3-10 Dolphins will travel to New York in the battle of the bad. With Cincinnati likely dropping to the Patriots, this could very well be the deciding factor of who gets that second pick in the 2020 draft. However, there is one major factor in this game worth considering. This may very well be the last time we see Eli Manning under center for the Giants. Rookie QB Daniel Jones will sit out one more week healing from an ankle injury so we will get one more look at the man, the myth, the legend, Eli Manning.
This is Eli’s farewell game. If you were to look at his stats you’d likely wonder how he made it this long as a starting QB. However, the only stat that matters to Giants fans is the two Super Bowl championships he brought them. Not only were they Super Bowls, but they were Super Bowl wins against Tom Brady and Bill Belichick. A sweet, sweet nugget in the pockets of Giants fans.
Manning deserves a proper send off
MetLife Stadium will be emotional and energized and his teammates will elevate their play to another level in order to send Manning’s constant confused stare off into the sunset with a win. Give me the Giants and after they win raise your glass and salute one of the greatest average quarterbacks of all time.
My Pick: Giants -3
Prop Bet of the Week
This week I’m going to parlay some of the top backs in the league as anytime scorers. I like the matchups and some of these guys are more due than the VHS of Dumb and Dumber that you forgot to return to Blockbuster in 1999 (RIP).
Here are the guys I think will find the end-zone this week.
- Saquon Barkley (-162)
- Chris Carson (-139)
- Dalvin Cook (-115)
- Alvin Kamara (-121)
- Parlayed together (+854)
My Pick: Parlay Anytime Touchdown Scorer Saquon Barkley, Chris Carson, Dalvin Cook, and Alvin Kamara
