Bam Adebayo Had Himself A Week
Bam Adebayo was incredible this past week, as the Miami Heat went 3-1 this week. The Heat started off with a few home victories over Chicago and Atlanta before traveling to Los Angeles. They narrowly lost to Lebron James and Anthony Davis by three points. Lastly, on the second half of a back-to-back Miami picked up a win over the Dallas Mavericks. So what impressed us this week about Miami? Can Bam Adebayo maintain this form? And what do Heat fans have to look forward to in the coming week? All those questions will be answered and our predictions for next week will be discussed as well.
Bam’s All-Around Great Week
Bam Adebayo had a phenomenal week, including a couple of triple-doubles. He had a double-double against Chicago, finishing with twenty-one points, thirteen rebounds, and six assists. Then against Miami Bam had a thirty points, eleven rebounds, and eleven assist triple-double. Bam had a modest twelve-point, twelve rebound double-double against the Lakers. Lastly, Bam was huge in the Heat’s overtime game with the Mavericks when he had his second triple-double. Now does this writer expect Bam to regularly get triple-doubles? No, but to expect a double-double from him every night is certainly doable. If he keeps this up then Bam may find himself on the Eastern Conference all-star team.
Beating Lesser Opponents
Miami may have played their two sub-five hundred teams close, they picked up victories regardless. They held Zach Lavine to just eighteen points on five of nineteen shooting last Sunday. And while the game may have gone to overtime, Miami outscored the Bulls thirteen to eight in the extra frame. Three players had more than twenty points in the win, including twenty-seven from rookie Tyler Herro. Two nights later Trae Young prematurely called game over before Miami went on a huge run. The Heat went on a twenty to zero run to take the game by fourteen in overtime. Two ugly wins for Miami, but wins nonetheless.
Playing Elite Team’s Tough
The Heat may have had close games with weak teams, but they also played top-tier teams tight as well. Lebron and Anthony Davis combined for sixty-one points, but Miami kept the game close. Miami was up eight at halftime but gave up thirty-seven points in the third. Despite Miami suffering its first home loss of the year, this game showed Miami is improving against good teams. The next night, they travelled to Dallas where they won by four in overtime. Luka Doncic went down with an ankle sprain in the first quarter. That did not stop Miami, as they jumped out to a twenty-three point lead at halftime. Now it should be noted Miami blew that massive lead. They were, however, able to compose themselves to win in the extra frame.
The Week Ahead
Once again this writer had a perfect prediction for the Heat and expect more of the same this week. Miami begins their week on the road tonight in Memphis. The Grizzlies have won three of their last four games, but Miami will pick up the win in this matchup. Then on Wednesday Miami travels to Philadelphia to play Joel Embiid and the 76ers. Bam will be in for a tough matchup, as will the rest of the Heat. Expect the Heat to have a statement win over Philadelphia after being embarrassed on November 23rd. Lastly, Miami will play the Knicks at home, where they should win with ease.
This writer predicts the Heat will be 22-7 at weeks end. Book It.
