#8 Ducks Overcome Sloppy Start to Dominate Montana
Ducks Dominate Montana: The Ducks started out extremely slow against Montana on Wednesday. The first half was quite sloppy for Oregon and Montana. Both teams struggled to take care of the ball, and manufacture high percentage shots. Oregon finished the night with 15 fouls, but cleaned up their act on the offensive end as the night went on. Five ducks reached double figures in their 81-48 win over Montana.
Impressive Performances from Okoro and Richardson
Richardson provided a very nice spark off of the bench for the Ducks. He finished with 14 points and 4 assists on 75% shooting. Some of his most important shots for the Ducks when their offensive was looking very lethargic.
Okoro recorded an impressive double double, he finished with 12 points, and 17 boards. Okoro’s 17 rebounds is the most for a duck since Jordan Bell had 17 rebounds in the 2017 final four game against UNC.
Ducks 5-Star Freshman N’Faly Dante Impresses In Debut
The Oregon Duck faithful were chomping at the bit to get a glimpse of their 5 star freshman in his debut tonight. Dante put on an offensive clinic in the paint against Montana. He finished with 11 points on 5-8 shooting in limited minutes. He got the crowd going when he finished alley-oops on back to back possessions. Dante adds another presence in the paint for a ducks team that loves to throw lobs to their big men.
Armandos’ Pre Game Keys
Keep up the Defensive Intensity: The Ducks have up some easy buckets in the early going against Montana. However, the defense improved dramatically throughout the second half. The ducks held Montana to just 23% shooting from three.
Continue to Knock Down the Three Point Ball: The Ducks were moderately efficient from behind the arc. The ducks finished at a respectable 38% (8-21) from three. There were a few threes taken in garbage time that somewhat blur that overall number. Overall, I was thrilled with the shot selection from the guys tonight.
Let Payton be Payton: Payton made most of his impact tonight through distributing the ball. Payton had a very efficient night tonight, he finished with 14 points, 7 assists, and also snagged 5 boards. As stated in my pregame article, Payton took on some of the responsibility of trying to slow down Pridgett. Pridgett struggled tonight shooting just 5-13 from the floor with two turnovers.
What’s Next For The #8 Ducks?
