Patriots Clinch the AFC East

Patriots clinch AFC East after defeating Buffalo Bills and here is the recap of how the Patriots game went down.

First Quarter 

The Bills drove down the field, pushing the New England defense all the way to the other side of the field. The defense got it’s steam back and stopped the Bills on offense. Stephen Hauschka made a 35-yard field goal to make the score 3 – 0 Buffalo. The Patriots did what the Patriots do and held the ball for a long time. They had the ball for seven minutes but finally connected with Matt LaCosse for an eight-yard passing touchdown. The extra point was good by Nick Folk. This made the score Patriots 7 – Bills 3. 

Second Quarter

The Patriots had yet another long drive, but this time it only ended in a 36-yard field goal by Folk. They gave the Bills the ball back, and the Bills drive down the field. The whole crowd thought Josh Allen was going to hand off the ball, but instead, he passed it. Allen threw a touchdown pass to Dion Dawkins, the left tackle. The extra point by Hauschka was good, which made the score Patriots 10 – Bills 10.

Third Quarter 

The Patriots started with the ball in the second half, and Folk kicked a 51-yard field goal for the Patriots. This made the score Patriots 13 – Bills 10. The Patriots defense was holding up until Allen threw a deep ball to John Brown for the 53-yard touchdown. Hauschka’s extra-point kick was good, and this made the score Patriots 13 – Bills 17. 

Fourth Quarter 

The Patriots drove the ball down the other side of the field only to be stopped for just a field goal. Folk kicked the field goal threw to make the score Patriots 16 – Bills 17. The Patriots stopped the Bills and got the ball back. New England drove down the field until they ran the ball to Rex Burkhead for a one-yard touchdown. Julian Edelman received the two-point conversion which makes the score Patriots 24 – Bills 17

Conclusion 

Patriots clinch AFC East for the whole decade!!! Tom Brady looked solid all game and did not make any bad throws. The defense looked excellent overall and held a solid Bills offense to some low scoring points. Folk is beginning to look more and more like a top kicker. The Patriots are now fighting to stay in contention for the first-round bye.
