On January 1st, 2020 at 4:00pm CT, the 8th ranked Badgers and 6th ranked Ducks will face off in the 106th Rose Bowl. Both teams this year have prided themselves in their defensive play. Both teams rank top 10 in the nation in points allowed per game; the Badgers allowing 16.1 and the Ducks allowing 15.7.
The disparity between these two teams comes on offense and how they move the ball. The Badgers are averaging 240 rush yards per game led by All-American Jonathan Taylor, while the Ducks average 183 on the ground. However with NFL QB Prospect Justin Herbert, the Ducks are averaging 268 passing yards per game, while the Badgers are averaging just 201 through the air this season.
The 106th Rose Bowl will come down to how well the Badgers’ pass defense performs compared to the Ducks’ rush defense. Controlling the clock and limiting explosive plays will be the name of the game for the Badgers.
One last aspect to keep an eye on is in-game discipline. Oregon has been penalized 83 times for a total of 842 yards. Wisconsin on the other hand has only been penalized 60 times for a total of 557 yards. Wisconsin being able to play mistake free football, and limit penalties should set them up for a favorable outcome. #OnWisconsin
