Miami drops third straight

The Miami Heat continued their rough west coast road trip Sunday night in Portland taking on the red hot Damian Lillard. No need to panic Heat fans although Miami drops its third straight game, we definitely had some bright spots to take away from tonight.

Jimmy Butler continues to rest his shoulder in which he strained Friday night against the Kings. The injury doesn’t appear to be anything serious as the Heat held Butler out of Sundays game for precautionary purposes. Tyler Herro and Meyers Leonard also continue to miss games as they suffered Injuries prior to the road trip beginning.

The New Guys

All in all considered three significant players missing injuries, Miami battled to the end with a Trailblazers team who is better than their record indicates. Newcomers Andre Iguodala and Jae Crowder showed flashes of why Miami shipped Justise Winslow for them. Both brought tough defense and Crowder was on fire from three last night adding 18 points on five triples made.

Both men seem to ooze Heat culture with the way the approach the game. Their impact especially on defense is noticed as soon as they step on the floor as Iguodala gave the primary ball handlers trouble all night. I’m really excited to see how this group looks with the return of Jimmy Butler, But mostly with Tyler Herro since more than likely they will come off the bench with Herro.

Looking Forward

We shouldn’t panic about three tough road loses as this group has shown all year they will be able to bounce back. Let them hit the All Star break to get healthy and this group will be a scary sight.

One last thing I wanted to mention was how incredible of a season it has been for Duncan Robinson. His catch and shoot ability especially last night continues to amaze me as he hits threes from the strangest angles possible. As amazing as Bam Adebayo has been every night, I really think Duncan should be considered for the most improved player award as his leap this year has been tremendous.

The Heat look to bounce back tonight against Andrew Wiggins and the Warriors as the west coast trip continues. Miami drops three straight and people throw away the entire body of work they have built up. Let’s fix that beating up on an injury plagued Warriors team.
