Collin Sexton Named Replacement for 2020 NBA Rising Stars Game
Collin Sexton is playing in the Rising Stars game for the first time in his career this year and is the only Cleveland Cavalier participating in any events in All Star weekend. He and many others were surprised that he wasn’t even picked for the first roster. He wasn’t on the team last year, but he finished his rookie campaign on the All-Rookie second team.
This year, Sexton is averaging 19.7 PPG on 46.1% shooting. He’s scored the ball very well and you can tell he’s making strides in his game. He’s one of the many young guards on the Cavalier roster, but he stands out as the best one as of right now.
The “Young Bull” has been on the receiving end of a lot of hate in his first year and half of playing. There’s been fans who call for him to be benched although he’s been the most consistent scorer on the team. In my opinion, he’s been better than Darius Garland, and there’s really no reason to bench him. The Cavs are in an awkward state, but Sexton is a lock to start and should be for a long time.
Collin Sexton has played in every game so far of his career and has started in all but 10. He will join the USA team comprised of: Miles Bridges, Wendell Carter Jr., Devonte’ Graham, Jaren Jackson Jr., Ja Morant, Kendrick Nunn, Eric Paschall, PJ Washington, Zion Williamson and Trae Young.
They take on Team World (Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Deandre Ayton, RJ Barrett, Brandon Clarke, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Rui Hachimura, Svi Mykhailiuk, Josh Okogie and Mo Wagner) on Friday, February 14th, the first day of All Star weekend.
