Bellator Dublin Main Card Preview

Bellator touches down in Dublin, as Leah McCourt vs Judith Ruis takes the main event. They replace James Gallagher vs Callum Ellenor, which was cancelled due to an injury to Gallagher. Whilst a lot of buzz was placed on the Gallagher fight, even without this fight, the main card is a tasty event. We at Overtime Heroics are going to highlight these fights below.

Main Card

Aaron Chalmers (5-1) vs Austin Clem (3-1)

Former reality TV star, Aaron “The Joker” Chalmers, is set to return to the Bellator cage. He’ll face off with American Lightweight, Austin “The King” Clem.

Clem is making his Bellator debut since making the move to the promotion from Walkout Fighting Championship. He will, no doubt, be looking to display his high-level submission offence, as he looks to make it four submission victories from his five professional fights.

Chalmers makes his return to the Bellator cage following his submission victory against Fred Freeman,. He was victorious by executing a Triangle Choke. The well-rounded Geordie currently has three submission victories to his name and two TKO/KO victories from his six professional fights.

Charlie Ward (7-4) vs Kyle Kurtz (10-7)

SBG Ireland’s Charlie Ward will be looking to get back to winning ways when he returns to the Bellator cage. He’ll face off with American Middleweight, Kyle “The Hurtz” Kurtz.

Ward will be looking to return to the winners’ column, following his Unanimous Decision defeat last time out at Bellator London. The hard-hitting Irishman has a 71% TKO/KO rate so far in his professional career. He will be looking to display more of his powerful shots, as he attempts to re-capture the form that saw him win four on the bounce between 2017 and 2019.

Kurtz is currently on a two-fight win-streak ahead of his anticipated Bellator debut. He will no doubt be looking to continue his current form under the Bellator promotion since making his move over from Cage of Honour. Kurtz has a 70% submission rate. His favourite submission to execute appears to be the Armbar, having finished four out of his ten professional fights using this submission.

Main Event

Leah McCourt (3-1) vs Judith Ruis (6-4)

Leah “The Curse” McCourt will be looking to continue her current win-streak when she returns to the Bellator cage, where she is faced with German Bantamweight, Judith Ruis.

McCourt is currently on a three-fight win-streak going into this fight, having won her last fight against Kerry Hughes at Bellator 227. Even though it is early on in Leah’s professional career, she has already displayed how versatile she can be in order to get the job done. One of her victories have come by way of submission, one by a doctors stoppage, and one by decision, making her a very dangerous opponent within Bellator’s Bantamweight Division.

Ruis also comes into this main event on a current two-fight win-streak, no doubt she will be looking to continue this form ahead of her Bellator debut. Four out of her six professional victories have come by way of submission, all four submissions have been different. Ruis will be looking to silence the Irish fans, and if she can display the submission offence she has in her previous fights, McCourt could be in for an extremely tough fight.
