Playoff Possibilities for the Miami Heat

As the regular season comes down to the last month lets take a look at the most likely playoff possibilities for the Miami Heat. It looks more than likely that the Heat will wind up with the fourth seed baring something crazy. Although the Heat only trail the Celtics by a game and a half for the third seed it seems the fourth seed is most likely. Jumping Boston however would be absolutely great for the Heat as it would mean a possible matchup with the Bucks wouldn’t occur til the Eastern Conference Finals. The second seed is out of reach as The Raptors have pretty much locked up the postion.

Indiana Pacers

As of today Miami would play Indiana in the first round as a four vs five matchup with Miami holding homecourt advantage. So far this season Miami has taken care of Indiana with two wins. They edged the Pacers in late decemeber and completely dismantled them in early January, the game mostly remembered for Jimmy Butlers altercation with Tj Warren. I would prefer to play the Pacers but this matchup does seem to pose some threats in my opinion. The Pacers have tremendous size with Myles Turner and All-Star Domantas Sabonis that could pose a threat. Also Miami hasn’t faced a healthy Victor Oladipo or Malcom Brogden this season when playing the Pacers.

I believe it will be a very hard fought series as Indiana is not a team to take lightly. They are very strong defensively which will show when the games start to slow down come playoff time. I still do believe the Heat survive Indiana but in a six or seven game series which could take a toll on Miami.

Philadelphia 76ers

What can we say about this potential matchup. It would most definitely ignite social media as both these franchises have not been kind to one another since Jimmy Butler decided to leave Philly. This series has everything you could want for the playoffs History, Emotion, and multiple all stars. Both the Heat and 76ers are god awful on the road, like we’re talking ridiculously bad. Combined this season these two teams have a road record of 24-43. The Sixers have been plagued by the injury bug as of late having Embiid, Simmons, and Richardson missing significant time.

They are a team who have massively underperformed this season but still could be extremely dangerous come playoff time. The talent of Embiid and Simmons is unquestionable the problem however is chemistry. On paper this roster seems like a defensive stall worth that could feast on opponents but in reality they are extremely limited offensively.

Prior Meetings

Miami has handled Philly well this season going 3-1 against them. The size however continues to be a problem that worries me. Al Horford has had his worst year as a professional but has tons of expirience when it matters the most in the playoffs. This series would be thrilling and hard fought with tons of emotion invested into it. I still have Miami winning the series in six or seven but believe the 76ers will give the Heat problems.Playoff Possibilities for the Miami Heat
