Raiders Sign Linebacker Littleton

The Raiders have started their tenure in Las Vegas in solid fashion. Their latest move is the addition of former Rams linebacker Cory Littleton to a three-year, $36-million deal. The details of the contract, reported by Ian Rapoport, include an annual base salary of $11.75 million.

LV was involved in a lengthy search for a new linebacker. Their biggest competition seemed to be the Packers. However, Green Bay signed Christian Kirksey on Saturday, which indicated that they were backing out of the race for Littleton.

Littleton had 3.5 sacks during the 2019 campaign, just half a sack short of his 2018 career-best. Also, he selected to the Pro Bowl in 2018 but declined as Los Angeles reached Super Bowl LIII.

He’s also been very solid when in coverage. He has held his allowed passer rating under 95.0 in each of the last two years. He thrived in 2019 despite facing a more significant workload defending passes. In 2020, he’ll be looking to get the percentage of throws completed when he’s in coverage under 70.0%.

Last year, the Raiders allowed the 8th-most yards through the air while finishing with the eighth-fewest amount of sacks (32.0), tied with the Chicago Bears. The addition of Littleton gives them leverage in both areas.
