2020 NFL Draft: Scouting Report for Benito Jones, IDL, Ole Miss

Benito Jones is a very talented defensive lineman. He is a big strong powerful player and can really put a bunch of pressure on an offense.

Jones’s Stats

Big Number 95 stands at 6’1” and weighs 321 lbs. In 2019, Jones had 19 solo tackles, 5.5 sacks, and one interception. This beast was one of my favorite pass rushers to watch last season. He plays the game with tons of energy.

Benito Jones’s strengths

Jones gets everyone’s attention when he’s on the field. He moves really fast for his size. His feet are quick and he can move really well right off the snap. It was impressive to see how his first steps were always explosive and powerful. Also, Jones has great hand work. His hands are quick and he can make hard contact with an offensive lineman to get good positioning to get around them. While watching film, what really stood out was how he won the majority of his hand battles. Thats part of what makes this player stand out. Finally what Jones does really well is recognize interior blocks. He knows the right time to move along the line so he can get better positioning. Benito will be a force to reckon with in the NFL. I can’t wait to see him make plays at the next level.

Benito Jones’s Weaknesses

There are not many weaknesses with Benito. One issue with Jones is his lack of reach. He struggles with stacking blocks sometimes because his length just falls a bit short. His size is great but his length is minimal. Another hole in Jones’s game is the lack of getting through gaps on the way to the quarterback. He does great with going straight through offensive interior, but sometimes he could take easier routs. Besides a handful of bumps, Benito Jones is ready to get drafted. He is full of talent.

Jones’s Projection

I think Jones will get drafted late in the 3rd round in the 2020 NFL Draft. This player will have no problem helping a team win next year. He brings a lot of great traits to the table. I think his best fit will be with the Houston Texans.
